Lord Elrick, the Apothecary of the South Florida Renaissance Faires since 1988, has been a scholar and practitioner of herbal medicine and the Druidic Arts for many years. A renowned lecturer, Elrick has given entertaining and educational presentations in ancient history and cultures and alternative history to the Harvard and MIT Alumni Associations as well as the Broward County Archeological Society, the Egyptology Society of Miami, the Maya Society of Miami, and MoonPath CUUPS in Fort Lauderdale.
In a video from a recent Renaissance Faire, Erlick discusses the origins of the Apothecary, the story of spices, and the importance of Cinnamon, Clove, Nutmeg and Ginger, and a dash of wit.
The significance of Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme in medieval medicines is more than the basis for a song. This was a time before medical conglomerates, when healing powers were gathered directly from herbs and minerals. As travelling independent merchants and advisors, Apothecaries dealt with the public, festivals, and the sensitivities of the medieval church.
Lord Elrick can be reached at GreenWizardApothecary@gmail.com. He presents to groups who value his talent, time and good-natured style. By day, he is a retired teacher, having taught middle and high school science in the Broward County school system for 39 years.
