MerryMeet Information and
General Schedule: It starts on Thursday, August 17th with the Leadership Institute. Presented in the past by the Cherry Hill Seminary of Vermont and the Ardantane Witch College of New Mexico, these workshops are designed for those who are either leaders in their communities or who aspire to be. If you’ve ever longed for guidance on the next level, beyond the basic Wiccan classes and books usually available, then the Leadership Institute courses would be of interest to you. The workshop fee of only $50 includes the morning and afternoon sessions, as well as a boxed lunch provided by the hotel. This day of workshops happens before the actual start of MerryMeet, and there is a separate part of the registration form to add this on. Plan to register for both to save your place for these advanced courses since they are on a first come first served basis. The theme for Leadership Institute this year is "Using Consensus Process: What to Do When Things Go Wrong." Friday morning, August 18th, begins the Grand Council event, which will take place for at least two days, taking up all of Friday and Saturday. If you’ve never seen consensus in action, you will want to sit for a time in the council and listen. Witches from all over the country gather to discuss proposals, issues, and concerns – and to create community together. Delegates from the member covens are the main attendees, but visitors are welcome to observe as well. Friday also starts the series of workshops that will be offered during this event. There will be three separate workshop areas, and usually there will be two or three workshops going on at any one time during the day. Morning and afternoon workshops will be posted closer to the event, and there will be a break for lunch. We are also looking at one track of workshops that may include offerings on other spiritual forms of religion, some of which are local to South Florida. Your registration at the MerryMeet festival includes all these workshops, as well as meals. Day passes will be sold both with and without meals, for those local to the area who may wish to attend but do not want to stay on the hotel premises. In addition to the many workshops available to you, we will also have a whole room full of some of the best vendors we can gather – with unique, hand made and one of a kind items, as well as clothing, altar supplies, and just about anything and everything. Some of the members of CoG also vend their own works, as we have a lot of published authors among our membership, and this is a great opportunity to hear them speak, and get a signed copy of their latest book or CD. The shopping at MerryMeet has always been one of the great perks of this festival, as we attract vendors from many different areas, as well as the best of our own local talent. As usual, we'll have opening, main and closing rituals, and we're really excited about our ritual plans, at least one of which will incorporate the beach! A Stregha ritual is also planned, for those that might like to check it out. Drumming on the beach and a tea dance are also planned. Check the Rituals/Events page for the most recent draft of the schedule. More will be announced closer to the time of the event as we get all of these plans finalized. We have some very experienced ritualists in charge of both the Saturday and Friday evening rituals, and we are sure they are going to be both meaningful and fun. The Tea Dance is a "dress as you dare" dance. Let your imagination run wild and let your younger self come out and play! Please bring a cover to get from your room to the Tea Dance if other hotel guests might be too enticed or alarmed by your outfit! Our workshop schedule will be varied and compelling. Information will be available on the Workshops page. Again, all of this is included in the registration, as is the talent show on Saturday night. There is a bar in the hotel, and alcohol is available, plus we will have music, a raffle, and surprises! This is one of my favorite parts of the weekend where you can just celebrate being among old and new friends, let your hair down and just enjoy yourself. Smaller themed rituals are also planned for Saturday night. Extended Hotel
