High Priestess (Lady Gossamer):

She has spoken and we listen, Ostara is here, a time for celebration,
a time for growth and new beginnings a time for pagans to unite
and commune with the god and goddess, a time to rejoice in the strength
of relationships.

Eostre is the German Goddess of the Dawn/Spring. Ostara is one of the
most important of all the Germanic holidays. Eostre symbols are the
egg and the rabbit. The story behind this is that a white rabbit fell
in love with Eostre and to demonstrate his love, he laid colored eggs
everyday.

The rabbit symbolizes innocence and continuing fertility. The egg
symbolizes birth and rebirth.

The neo-pagan version of Ostara is a celebration of birth and new life.
The time of year when death holds no power over the living. It is the
return of the Goddess after her winter hibernation. It is the time
of the year when the Goddess and God consummate their love.

And with that, we welcome you to Ostara 2004, I am lady Gossamer.

High Priest (Oloran):

And I am Oloran.

High Priestess:

Let the rite begin.

Shaper, would you please cleanse the circle.

High Priest:

Tides of the season, ebb and flow
From spring's first light to autumn's glow,
Desoil around from birth to death
Legends, myths, and lore connect,
Solar fire, sun's bright burning
Purify the Great Wheel turning,
Winds of north to carry the flame
The mists of eons, call the name.
East and south, the west inspire
Energy spirals ever higher!
The circle rise and marks rebirth
As seasons change and kiss the earth.
From seed and plough to harvest home
To starry vault and standing stone
This sabbat circle round and round
I seal thee now from sky to ground!
Blessed Be!
(** in part, Silver Raven Wolf, Solitary Witch)

High Priestess:

this circle tight.

By the powers of Earth, Air, Fire and Water, Seal the Circle Raise the Cone.

High Priest:

(Bread & Water is passed out.)

We will now share cakes and ale or the case tonight bread and water..

The food, which we are about to eat
Is Earth, Water, and Sun, compounded through the alchemy
Of many plants.
Therefore Earth, Water and Sun will become part of us.
This food is also the fruit of the labor of many beings and creatures
We are grateful for it.
May it give us strength, health, joy.
And may it increase our love.
(**UU prayer)

Today we drink water, it is our most precious resource, We honor the mother
as we drink,
Blessed Be.

And, today we eat grain, the staff of life, we have honored the elements
by combining sage, rosemary, parsley and thyme, with this bread we honor
the father, together they are LIFE!
So mote it be! Blessed Be.

High Priestess:

Before we close this rite, you will be given an herb to spell with.

Some of you have been given Thyme, reflective of the Earth. Gaia
embraces you as an important element in the Great Spiral Dance.

Some of you have been given Rosemary, reflective of Air. An increase
in focus and concentration will reward your efforts in the coming weeks.

Some of you have been given Sage, reflective of Fire. Breaking a habit
will transform your life, Do It Now!

Some of you have been given Parsley, reflective of Water. A lasting love,
given and returned, will fill you soon.

Come forth and toss your offering in to the fire to transform your thought
into reality.

Everyone together, and as I will it, so mote it be, Blessed Be.

And, like a whirlwind the rite, comes to a close, the quarters are
dismissed with honor and reverence.

The God and Goddess bid their adieu.

The circle of energy around us begins to fade.

By the earth that is her body
And by the air that is her breath
And by the fire of her bright spirit,
And by the living waters of her womb,
The circle is open, but unbroken,
May the joy of the Goddess live in our hearts.
Merry meet, and merry part,
And merry meet again.
