(All gather on the patio, chanting begins, “Let it all begin now”, walk through the memorial garden,
greeted by Fairies, each person is handed a penny “We welcome the return of spring, thou art the god/goddess”
everyone is waved on to move sun-wise)

Moonday - Welcome everyone, welcome to Ostara 2012, my name is Moonday and this is my partner Shaper,
today we are celebrating the Spring Equinox… a day of balance, where light and dark are equal.

Shaper – Culturally in the United States we celebrate this time of year with Easter Baskets
or more properly said, Ostara Baskets, colors of spring, pinks, yellows, blues, greens, purples dance
around us as seen in clothes, dyed eggs, and living proof in flowers that spring has arrived,
the youth is alive, budding and eager to dance and play in the sunshine.

Moonday – So let us begin this community rite with a cleansing by our very own Pee Wee Pagans,
dancing the dance of spring, cleansing and brightening our circle with their smiles.

(drumming, light and popping sounds)

Moonday – Let us chant with them, “Sweep this circle bright and clear!”

Pee Wees – (dance and sweep the circle 3x times in a counter-clockwise motion and then return to the microphone)

Pee Wees – The circle is cleansed, so say we all! Happy Ostara, Blessed Be!

Shaper – Now the Teen Pagans will seal the circle, it’s important to visual the circle being sealed
and the cone of power being raised, above us, below us, and all around us.
Please join the Teen Pagans in the following chant, “By the powers of earth, air, fire and water,
seal the circle, raise the cone.”

Teen Pagans – (one Teen Pagan with a strong voice at the microphone chants
“By the powers of earth, air, fire, and water, seal the circle, raise the cone.”
The other Teen Pagans, seal the circle moving clockwise 3x times)

Blazing God,
You who are the King of the Gods,

Father of woman and man,
Lover of the Moon Goddess and protector of all the Craft.

Descend I pray,
With you Solar ray of power
Upon our circle here!

HPS - Call Goddess –

Crescent One of the starry skies,
Flowered One of the fertile plan,
Flowing One of the ocean's sighs,
Blessed One of the gentle rains;
Hear our chant 'midst the standing stones,
Open us to your mystic light;
Waken us to your silver tones,
Be with us in our sacred rite!

HPS –

We are between the worlds, the mundane is forgotten as we celebrate Ostara tonight!

HP –

Ostara is the second of three spring festivals, it is many things to many people,
a time of balance, during the Spring Equinox, day and night are equal,
spring in northern states means coming out of hibernation, Ostara occurs on March 21st or 22nd,
depending on where you reside in the world.
Ostara brings images of bunnies, chicks, puppies, kittens, butterflies, dragonflies, and fairies.
The Christians borrowed this festival and rename it Easter. Their stories are reshaped,
but the re-born solar sun remains in the retelling of the tales of Jesus the “Son” of God’s resurrection.
Yes, the Sun is Reborn, reawaked in spring, after this festival the days of the sun grow longer,
until the full maturity at the Summer Solstice, also known as Litha or Mid-summer.
“The egg (and all seeds) contains ‘all potential’, full of promise and new life.
It symbolizes the rebirth of nature, the fertility of the Earth and all creation.

In many traditions the egg is a symbol for the whole universe.
The ‘cosmic’ egg contains a balance of male and female, light and dark, in the egg yolk and egg white.
The golden orb of the yolk represents the Sun God enfolded by the White Goddess, perfect balance,
so it is particularly appropriate to Ostara and the Spring Equinox when all is in balance for just a moment.

I do believe in Leprechauns and lucky for us we have one here tonight!

(Ferryman goes out and hams it up, waving his arms)

HP –
Does everyone have a penny to make a wish?
Okay, well in true spirit of mischief Leprechauns, this one wishes us to do a little dance before,
tossing our pennies into the water filled caldron to make our wishes come true.
(Play music and everybody Chicken Dances)
HP/HPS – (Cakes & Ale --- blessings, pass out by each quarter, going sun-wise)
HPS - Great Mother, bless these cakes,
Grown in the earth,
Blessed by air,
Nourished by water,

That they may nourish and sustain us in your service
May we always have enough.
